LADY SOFTBALL INDIANS KNOCKED OFF IN EXTRA INNINGS

Mt Carmel rallied from an early deficit and nipped the Lawrenceville Lady Softball Indians 10-9 in 8 innings at Mt Carmel Wednesday. The Lady Indians did score 2 runs in the top of the 7th to tie the game at 9 before the hosts scored the winning run in the extra frame. Mt Carmel had 10 runs on 16 hits and committed an error while the Lady Tribe score 9 runs on 13 hits and also made an error. Abby Gartner took the loss on the mound in relief of starter Melody Lockhart. Haleigh Hoke had 3 hits and drove in a run, Jayley Akers had 2 hits including a homer and drove in 3 runs, Gartner and Elizabeth Steffey also had 2 hits. The Lady Indians have lost 2 in a row and are 5-5 on the season. They are scheduled to host Newton Thursday at Phil Alsman Field.
