The gametime temperature was 35 degrees with a 29 degree wind chill. Wainwright allowed an unearned run, struck out five, walked four, and allowed four hits to improve to 1-2 while Chatwood struck out seven, gave up two runs on one hit in 4 2/3 innings to fall to 0-3. Javier Baez blasted a two run homer off Redbird reliever Greg Holland in the bottom of the eighth but it was not enough as the Cubs lost for the third time in four games.
