The multi-team Little Illini Frosh-Soph Basketball tournament began with play throughout the day Saturday at Lawrenceville High School. In the opening game, it was a Lawrence County battle as Red Hill beat Lawrenceville 41-37. Drake Allen paced the Salukis with 17 points in the win. Later, the Salukis lost to Fairfield 66-47 with Allen scoring 19 in the loss. Lawrenceville rebounded in the afternoon with a 53-18 win over Flora as Blayne Winningham scored 16. Play will continue in the tournament Saturday at 9a.m. Meanwhile, the Lville frosh-soph are scheduled to meet Red Hill in Bridgeport Monday at 6:15 p.m.
