Maxine Harmon, 88, of Olney, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Harmon was born April 4, 1929, in North Bend, NE., to Einer and Mary (Stemmermann) Miller. She married Louis Harmon in 1953, and he preceded her in death in 1994.

Maxine was a kind, loving person who always took time to help others in need. She was a nurse’s aide at Richland Memorial for more than 30 years, and took pride in giving all patients the compassion and dignity they deserved. She adored her children and grandchildren, with whom she spent many hours on the phone regaling tales of her youth, comments about the weather, and the latest family news. She enjoyed shopping, spending time with family and friends, and attending services at Immanuel United Methodist Church.

She is survived by three daughters, Susan Glenn and husband Doug of Florissant, Mo., Katherine Silvers and husband Terry of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Cynthia Legg and husband Jerry of Sumner; one son, Rodney Harmon and wife Martie of Freeport, Maine; one sister, Barbara Elvers of the Houston area; one sister-in-law, Harriet Miller of El Dorado, Kansas; five grandchildren, Nathan Stoltz and partner Kristi Ferguson of Indianapolis, Virginia (Ginger) Stoltz and partner Lisa Sklar of Indianapolis, Angela Rundle and husband Gregg of Houston, Christin Legg of LaFollette, Tenn., and Rachel Harmon of Freeport; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Daniel Rundle of Houston; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services for Maxine Harmon will be Tuesday at 11 am at the Kistler-Patterson Funeral Home in Olney. Memorials can be made to  Disabled American Veterans (DAV)
