Bridgeport Man Sentenced on Multiple Charges

   Lawrence County State’s Attorney Michael M. Strange announced that 30 year-old Billy J. Stevenson of Bridgeport was sentenced on a pair of charges. Stevenson had previously plead guilty to Unlawful Violation of Order of Protection, a Class 4 Felony, stemming from a 2015 incident. In addition, Stevenson was found guilty of Domestic Battery, a Class 4 Felony, after a bench trial. The Court imposed an agreed upon sentence in each matter. Stevenson was sentenced to 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by one year of Mandatory Supervised Release on the Violation of Order of Protection charge. Stevenson was also sentenced to 2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by 4 years of Mandatory Supervised Release on the Domestic Battery charge. Both sentences will run concurrent. Stevenson was fined $750 in the Domestic Battery case and is also required to pay court costs.
