Delbert Lancaster, 87, of Bridgeport, Illinois passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Aperion Care in Bridgeport, Illinois.
He was born January 10, 1930 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Gilvie and Edna (Murray) Lancaster. He married Louise M. Beggs on October 12, 1968 and she survives.
Delbert was a truck driver for 45 years for Imperial Animal Products Wadsworth, Illinois; as well as a truck driver and mixed feed for Illinois Fur Breeders in Gurnee, Illinois. His memberships included the Chauncey-Landes United Methodist Church and the Moose in Zion, Illinois.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Janet Elrod; five brothers, Charles Lancaster, Gary Lancaster, Robert Lancaster, and infant twins, Floyd and Lloyd Lancaster; and three sisters, Mary Heath, Evelyn Kelley, and Lois Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Louise; three children, Homer Lee Lancaster of Amory, Mississippi, Debbie Lancaster of Waukegan, Illinois, and Brenda Lancaster-Crede of Beach Park, Illinois; one step-son, Ronald M. Rought of Elgin, Michigan; two brothers, Roy Lancaster and wife, Donna, of Sumner, Illinois and Donnie Lancaster and wife, Joyce, of Sumner, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Keith Elrod of Plainfield, Illinois, Shannon Lancaster of Wren, Mississippi, Lisa Lancaster of Amory, Mississippi, Shane Lancaster of Golden, Colorado, Dawn Lancaster of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, Shaun Lancaster of Amory, Mississippi, and Deanna Cartwright of Paddock Lake, Wisconsin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:00 AM CST at the Sivert-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Sumner, Illinois. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM CST at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Delbert’s memory may be made to the Chauncey-Landes United Methodist Church or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
