Christopher J. ‘CJ’ Creech, 41, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born June 15, 1976 in Vincennes, Indiana, the son of James and Jacqueline ‘Jay’ (Ortman) Creech. He married Christina G. Earnst on May 15, 1999 and she survives.
CJ was a 1994 Lawrenceville High School graduate and a 1998 Eastern Illinois University graduate. He worked at the Lawrence Correctional Center as a food supervisor. His memberships included the St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Edward Dobbins #164 Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, and Sons of the American Legion. He was an Eagle Scout, avid motor head, Bronco football fan, and loved muscle cars and traveling. He enjoyed spending time with his children and attending their sporting events.
Survivors include his parents, James and Jay; wife, Christina; four children Caitlin June, Carmen Elaine, Cody Ryan Lee, and Carson John all of Lawrenceville, Illinois; one brother, Jim of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Molly Earnst of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Brenda Hunt of Palestine, Illinois; one brother-in-law Mike Earnst and wife, Kim, of Billett, Illinois; two uncles, Terry Ortman and wife, Rita, of Godfrey, Illinois and Jim Ortman and wife, Alisa, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral mass will be conducted Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at 5:00 PM CST at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois.Masonic rites will be conducted at 5:00 PM CST followed by the funeral mass.Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM CST at the church. CJ’s wishes were to be cremated following the funeral mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Creech Children Education Fund. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is assisting the family with the arrangements.
