Hattie M. Dickirson

Hattie M. Dickirson, age 91 of Lawrenceville, passed away Friday, October 13, 2017 at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital. She was born in Russellville on November 19, 1925 to Wallace Walker Wilber and his wife Laverna (Warren) Wilber.

Robert Dewey Dickirson married Hattie on February 5, 1942, and he preceded her in death.

She grew up attending the Free Methodist Church in Russellville and later became a long-time member of the Free Methodist Church in Lawrenceville. Hattie had worked on her parents’ farm while growing up, was a homemaker to her family, worked at a retail fabric store, and helped run Dickirson Standard gas station. She enjoyed spending her time quilting, sewing, buying and selling antiques, and playing cards with friends. Hattie had also been a member of the Moose Lodge.

Surviving family includes: two children- Gene David Dickirson and his wife Barbara of Plymouth, MI and Yvonne Carol Fox of Lawrenceville: five grandchildren- David, Mark, and Mindy Dickirson, Michael Fox, and Julie (Fox) Frederick: seven great-grandchildren- Holland, Savanna, Devon, and Dean Dickirson, Levi Fox, and Jacob and Kari Frederick: four great-great-grandchildren- Lynden, Ethan, Rylen, and Ireland: one brother- George T. Wilber and wife Louise of Springfield: and one sister-in-law- Mildred Wilber of Vincennes, IN.

She was preceded in death by: her husband- Robert D. Dickirson: her parents- Wallace and Laverna Wilber: two brothers- Warren and Herman Wilber: one sister- Nora Catherine McKinney: and one son-in-law- Del Fox.

A funeral service for Hattie M. Dickirson will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
