Vincennes City Meeting Report

 –The Vincennes City Council says there’ll be more housing choices in the near future, and a new development downtown in Indiana’s First City.   Myszak & Palmer Architecture and Development got approval from the council to begin work on a project that will bring apartments and some retail shopping to an area downtown on the river front.   The cost will be around $11 million dollars but will take time to develop and build.

-A Daviess County company has been awarded the contract to repair the Oliphant building in downtown Vincennes.  The Vincennes Board of Public Works and Safety agreed to hire Schrock and Sons of Elnora to repair a wall on the building that was damaged by fire.  The cost for the work was said to be $82,000 according to the Vincennes Sun Commercial.   The Oliphant Building was considered to be Vincennes’ first skyscraper.
