Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner has signed into law legislation that was a sponsor initiative assisting business in southeastern Illinois. House Bill 1945 allows water districts and every non-profit private waste company to construct, maintain, alter, and extend their wastewater lines under streets.  Bill sponsor State Representative David Reis says the bill enables non-profit water companies to also supply wastewater and sewer service to residents that are currently reliant upon septic systems.
