The Lawrence County Historical Society will hold its monthly program meeting at the History Center in Lawrenceville Monday night at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be John R. Hamilton, who will present a program on the Oil Belt Railroad. Hamilton is the author of “The Oil Belt Railroad: A Little Railroad Saga,” which tells the history of the ill-fated railroad company which began in Oblong in 1909 and reached Bridgeport in 1913. Copies of Hamilton’s book will be available for purchase at the meeting, which is free and open to the public.
