Teen’s body found in Knox County lake

Indiana Conservation Officers are reporting a body recovery has been made of the fifteen year old male missing in a small lake in Knox County.

The boy identified as 15-year-old Jacob Williams of Oaktown was located by an ROV underwater camera piloted by an Indiana Conservation Officer.  The Indiana State Police Dive Team made the recovery at 2:45 pm Saturday.

Fridasy night Indiana Conservation Officers reported a 15 year old boy from Oaktown  missing after going under water in a small lake in Knox County.

The missing subject was swimming and called for help.  Another teenage boy tried to canoe out to him, but was unable to get to him before he went under water.

 Indiana State Police Officers and Deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene and canoed and swam out to the area the young man went missing.  They were unable to locate him.

Indiana Conservation Officers and the Vincennes Township Fire Department used watercraft and divers to search for the subject until after dark.

The initial 911 call came in at 5:47 pm on June 30th 2017.  The location of the incident is on private property near the Big Peach on Highway 41 near Emison.

A search was suspended at 11 last night and began again today at daybreak.

Responding agencies included the Vincennes Township Fire Department, Washington Township Fire Department, Oaktown Fire Department, Edwardsport Fire Department, Knox County EMS, Knox County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police and Indiana Conservation Officers.
