Dr. Robert A. “Bob” Bailey, 67, passed away Tuesday May 23, 2017 in Vincennes.

He was born in Vincennes, Indiana on July 8, 1949, to Elbert and Madge (Britton) Bailey. He grew up attending church and school in Lawrenceville, Illinois. After graduating from Lawrenceville High School in 1967, he attended Wabash Valley College, where he studied science and was a walk-on-basketball player on a team that won the Southern Illinois College Conference. He then joined the US Army in 1969 and served as medic until early 1972.

After leaving the military in 1972, Dr. Bailey attended Southern Illinois University and later entered Logan College of Chiropractic in St. Louis, Missouri. Following graduation from Logan in 1977, he returned to Vincennes and developed a thriving practice. In 2000, he re-entered college for another three years and became the only Board Certified Forensic Chiropractor in Indiana. Dr. Bailey also served as an Academy Instructor for the National Insurance Crime Bureau for several years and provided instruction around the country to special investigators, insurance claims agents, attorneys, and FBI agents. He considered his work as a forensic examiner and the reputation he established as an expert witness his most distinguishing professional achievement.

Dr. Bailey was known to have excelled in a variety of sports, but was best known as a talented racquetball player.

Over the years, he considered himself lucky to have gotten to play guitar with a group of local musicians. He loved the music, but never thought of himself as doing much more than making a joyful noise.

Dr. Bailey is survived by his wife, Jodi (Pahmeier) Bailey of Fort Meyers, Florida; daughter, Jill Dossett and husband, John, of Evansville, Indiana; daughter, Adriane Kimmell and husband, Matt, of Monroe City, Indiana; daughter, Lindsey Davis of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; and grandchildren, Isaiah Eveland of the United States Air Force; John Dossett of Evansville, Indiana; and Matti Kimmell and Parker Kimmell of Monroe City, Indiana. A sister, Jane Fisher and husband, Ron, of Lawrenceville, Illinois also survive.

Dr. Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Madge Bailey; a sister, Judy Bailey Seed; and a grandson, Colton Dossett.
