Buckle up..it’s the law

The Illinois State Police remind motorists to buckle up during the Click It or Ticket campaign which begins today and runs through May 24th.  Troopers will be conducting seat belt patrols, encouraging all vehicle occupants to wear seatbelts, in order to reduce traffic crash fatalities.  The Illinois State Police in District 12 will be staffing dozens of extra patrols to focus on the fatal four violations of Failure to Wear Seatbelt, Distracted Driving, Speeding and DUI.  These four violations are most often the contributing factors in fatal crashes. Late night hours are the most dangerous for driving.  Those hours are when the highest percentage of motorists die in alcohol-involved crashes and seat belt usage is the lowest.
