High winds cause some damage in the area, Glenn Ramey was in court Friday and today is Drug Take Back Day..

 

–High winds caused extreme damage in the WAKO listening area yesterday afternoon. there were several reports of trees being uprooted and damaging homes. There were also several power lines knocked down by tree limbs.  The National Weather Service says the high winds, lightning and heavy rainfall are expected to continue throughout the weekend.

–The man accused of killing an 8-year-old Olney girl was in court Friday.  Authorities say Glenn Ramey raped and killed 8-year-old Sabrina Stauffenberg last November. The prosecution requested recordings of Ramey’s phone calls from the jail be turned over to doctor who is doing a mental fitness evaluation. Ramey’s attorney objected to the request. The next hearing has been set for May 5th for both sides to narrow down the number of recordings that could be used.

— Lawrence County authorities arrested a Vincennes woman at a residence on County Road 1200 North near Illinois Route 33 following a domestic dispute.  Sheriff’s deputies charged  25 year-old Jalisa Greer with domestic battery. Greer was taken to the Lawrence County Jail.

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s Annual Prescription Drug Take Back Day will take place today from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The public can take unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications to one of over 5,000 collection sites around the country. The service is free of charge, with no questions asked. Drop-off points include the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department, the Vincennes Police Department, the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Bicknell Police Department, and all area Illinois and Indiana State Police posts. Only pills and other solids, like patches, will be accepted. You should not bring liquids, needles or other sharps to the drop-off sites.

–Toyota Boshoku Illinois Production will continue to be down Monday and Tuesday. Team leaders are encouraged to take advantage of this down time before returning to full-time production. BF4 and support groups will be resuming normal operations on Monday.
