Helen (Lichte) Harbin

Helen (Lichte) Harbin, 90, of Freelandville, died early Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital.

 

 

Born May 8, 1926, in rural Freelandville, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Matilda (Pepmeier) Lichte. Helen enjoyed her life as a bookkeeper and office manager for Producer’s Livestock Assn., the Knox County Prosecutors Office, and most recently Sargent Farms. She was an avid gardener loving her flowers and working in the soil. She was a life long member of Bethel Church in rural Freelandville, where she was confirmed on Sunday, March 17, 1940 and was a member of the Christian Partner’s class and the Bethel Women’s Guild.
Surviving are her sons, Stanley Harbin and wife Debbie, Rodney “Jay” Harbin, both of Freelandville; daughter, Julie and husband John Dehart of Louisville, IL; sister, Jane Sizemore of Lithia Springs, GA and brother, Roy Lichte of Brownsburg, IN; grandchildren, Jim Chancellor of Evansville, Adam Harbin and wife Julie of Bicknell, Ebony and husband Mark Grimm of rural Freelandville, Kent Harbin of Freelandville, Jason Dehart and wife Erin, Heath Dehart and wife Addie, all of Clay City, IL; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, James R. Harbin and infant son, Douglas, brother, Charles Ray Lichte; grandson, Joshua and his love Allison Rinsch.
Visitation will be at 10:00 AM until time of service on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Bethel Church in rural Freelandville with funeral services to held at 11:00 AM also at the church. Burial will follow in the Bethel Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethel Church Women’s Guild or the Freelandville Community Home.
