Ronald “Ron” W. McMullen, 80, Petersburg, formerly of Vincennes, passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Deaconess Hospital.

 

Ron was born April 3, 1936, in Bruceville, the son of John Louis “Moon” and Maureen (Nisbet) McMullen. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in 1954, then graduated from Butler University in 1958 with a bachelor’s in Pharmacy. He was drafted into the United States Army in 1959 and discharged in 1961. He then went to work at Good Samaritan Hospital in the pharmacy until he retired in 1998. After he retired, he worked at Daviess Community Hospital for 10 years. In his life, Ron was a member of Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Petersburg, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and Old Cathedral Catholic Church. For many years, he was a member and past president of the Northwest Territory Art Guild, a past board member on the Vincennes Catholic School Board, a former Cub scout leader and Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree. He was also an avid woodworker and water color artist.
Ron is survived by his wife, Mae Carolyn McMullen of Petersburg; his former wife, Beverly (Grannan) McMullen of Vincennes; sons, John (Mary Grace) McMullen of Evansville, Joseph McMullen of Vincennes, Ron McMullen of Evansville, and Christopher (Elizabeth) McMullen of Zionsville, IN; grandchildren, Andrew and Theodore McMullen and Greyson and Cosette McMullen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant grandson, David Harold McMullen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM (Eastern time) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Rev. John David McMullen, OSB, Rev. Dave Fleck, and Rev. Frank Renner officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM (Eastern time) with a vigil service at 7:00 PM with Deacon Earl Ruppel officiating at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. He will be laid to rest at Mt.
