A Jasper resident turned himself into Greene County authorities over the weekend in connection with a crash that killed three people earlier last week.

19-year-old Mason William Hartke is charged with three counts of operating while intoxicated with a blood alcohol greater than .08 causing death.  He also faces three counts of reckless homicide.  All six charges are Level 5 Felonies.  A warrant was issued for his arrest following the investigation into the crash that occurred on I69 at the 103 mile marker in Greene County in the wee hours of the morning Sunday November 13th.

A family from Newburgh was driving home from Indy after a high school band competition. Their vehicle hit a deer and pulled to the side of the road.  Hartke was driving a pickup and came along a short time later and went off the road hitting the family in their car.  46-year-old David Rinehart, his 74 year hold mother Ruth and 17-year-old daughter Sophie were killed.

Hartke, who suffered a broken arm in the incident,  is being held on a $60,000 bond in the Greene County Jail. Authorities say they continue to investigate the crash.
