VPD make arrests in separate rape and robbery cases




Vincennes Police have arrested one man and are searching for a second suspect in connection with an ongoing sex offense case.  Police chief Dusty Luking says Detectives began an investigation early Thursday morning into an alleged sex offense in the area of Felt King Road. Luking says officers located and arrested 38 year-old Barton Brand the Second on a charge of rape. He says police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a second suspect, 56-year-old Herbert Joesph Waters. Luking says Waters last known address was 80 West 15th Street in the Bunker Hill area. Anyone with information on Joesph Waters whereabouts are asked to contact the Vincennes Police Department at 812-882-1630.



Vincennes police have arrested two suspects in connection with the armed robbery of the Old Post Liquor Store yesterday afternoon.
Travis Gilbert and Chad Taylor both of Vincennes are charged with armed robbery.
Police report the two men allegedly entered the liquor store around 3:30 pm Thursday and demanded cash from a store employee. Witnesses say the two suspects then fled in a car.
Gilbert and Taylor were apprehended later in the evening.
Travis Gilbert is facing additional charges of intimidation and criminal confinement with a deadly weapon. Police say Chad Taylor was also wanted on a failure to appear warrant.
Bond for Gilbert is set at 75-thousand dollars while Taylor is being held without bond pending an initial court appearance.
