Bicknell Police Chief will attend mandatory training in March

Bicknell’s new police chief missed some state-mandated training.

Mayor Thomas Estabrook appointed Terry Stewart as the city’s police chief in January.

Not long after, plans were made to have Stewart attend the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy’s Police Chief Training Course that is only offered once a year.

However, those plans came to a halt after the force was left under-staffed, and a judgment call by city officials kept Stewart from attending.

City officials then received a letter from the academy notifying them of the missed training– which they attempted to appeal.

Mayor Estabrook stands by his police chief saying that for a small town like Bicknell with only six officers on staff– being down two officers is a big deal and Stewart will definitely be at the next training session in March.
