Bertha “Lou” Brown

 Bertha “Lou” Brown 90, passed away at 10:25 pm on October 25, 2016 at Gentle Care Nursing Home.

Lou was born on October 31, 1925 in Knox County the daughter of Darvin Frank and Goldie Faye (Peach) Howder. She married John Brown, Jr. on January 10, 1946 and he preceded her in death on February 6, 1993.
Lou had worked for Misner Radio Factory and was also a homemaker. She was a member of Bunker Hill General Baptist Church. She enjoyed bingo, going to yard sales, reading, poems, and making up jingles. Lou never met a stranger and was known for her cooking without ever using a recipe.
Survivors include her daughter, Tanna Lou Sage of Vincennes; sons, John M. Brown and his wife Kathryn of Vincennes, Gary L. Brown and his wife Donna of Vincennes, Larry W. Brown and his wife Jean of Vincennes, Darvin Kent Brown and his companion Robin of Vincennes; sisters, Helen Carson of Vincennes, Fern Miles of Vincennes, Esther Stewart of Vincennes, Shirley Gray of Vincennes; fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. Lou was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters, Kate Holloway, Dixie Howder, Vivian D. Parker and brother, Frank “Bud” Howder, and son in law, Steve Sage.
Funeral services for Lou will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Jay Howder officiating. Burial; will follow in Memorial Park.
