GasBuddy.com says the average price per gallon in Indianapolis went up 11 cents over the last week, to $2.17 a gallon on average today. However, Fort Wayne’s average for a gallon of gas dropped 10 cents to $1.98 a gallon.

Statewide, that average is $2.13 a gallon today, up 7 cents from Sunday and up 2 cents from last week, when it was $2.11 a gallon. Indiana now has the 18th cheapest gas in the nation. The cheapest gas in Indiana can be found for $1.79 a gallon in both Schererville and Gary.

Indiana’s gas prices are still below the national average. The national average per gallon is now $2.22.

“The trend that has delivered consistently lower gas prices is showing signs of fading away as consistent discussion from both OPEC and non-OPEC members appears to be aligned for a likely production cut at the OPEC meeting in late November,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.

You should be prepared for anything when it comes to gas prices this winter. DeHaan says a looming decision on cutting crude oil production by OPEC will decide whether or not gas prices go up or down over the next month. He says production cuts would keep gas prices higher this winter, while no change in production could drive prices back down.

Locally, gas is   2.05 to 2.16 in Vincennes.. 2.06 to 2.07 in Washington,    2.09 to 2.13 in Petersburg, 2.18 in Jasper
