Vincennes City Officials are planning a ribbon cutting ceremony next Friday to celebrate the opening of the Riverwalk Trail along Culbertson Boulevard.

Mayor Joe Yochum says the project has been on the books for over 20 years and is now finally close to being completed.

Yochum says there will be an elevated platform where people can take in a scenic view of the Wabash River.

Yochum indicated there will also be benches where people can sit as well as swing.  He says the swings were a last minute addition to the project.

Street lights are also included but Yochum says there could be a delay in getting them hooked up. He says Duke Energy has committed manpower and resources to getting power restored in the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 5:30 p.m. next Friday at the Main Street end of the Riverwalk. Yochum says the public is invited to attend.
