Shelter house at Four Lakes to be rebid

rejected

The Vincennes Parks Board has rejected bids for construction of a new shelter house and bathroom facilities at Four Lakes Park.

After reviewing the bids, architect Larry Donovan told board members thought the bids came in higher than expected. The three bids ranged in price from 89-thousand up to 126 thousand dollars. Donovan believes they can save some money by re-bidding the package.

Parks Superintendant Steve Beaman says they essentially want to gut the existing shelter house and restroom and re-build it.

The Vincennes Redevelopment Commission has provided 340-thousand dollars for the renovations which includes re-paving the parking lot located near Hill Field.

The Parks Board did approve a bid from Miracle Recreation for nearly 126-thousand dollars to build a splash pad at 4 Lakes Park. The company previously constructed new playground equipment at Gregg Park.
