Kelli Streeter of Freelandville is Knox County’s newest Commissioner.

The County’s Republican Central Committee met last night to name a replacement for the late Rowe Sargent.  Streeter emerged from a group of four candidates to be elected on the 1st ballot cast.  Streeter says her pitch to party leaders was straight forward.

Streeter attempted to down play the fact she is the first female elected to the County Commissioners.  She says her focus will be upon serving the people of the 3rd district.
County Republican Chairwoman Linda Painter was pleased with Streeter’s selection.   Having worked with Streeter on the Knox County Housing Authority Board, Painter says Streeter is not afraid to ask the tough questions and keep digging until a solution can be found to a particular issue.  Streeter will fill the two remaining years of Sargent’s term. She will be sworn in within the next few days.  A date and time for the ceremony has yet to be set.
