County budget talks to continue

budget-hearing-2

The Knox County Council has yet to set their budget for the upcoming year.

A structural deficit in the General Fund budget and how to address the issue was left up in the air following a late night budget session on Thursday which failed to come up with any immediate solutions. The problem is the result of property tax caps enacted by the Indiana General Assembly several years ago which limits the amount of money local units of government can raise in order to operate. Council members plan to resume their budget deliberations sometime next week.
