Vincennes firemen put down an afternoon fire

Fire caused 15-thousand dollars damage to a Vincennes Apartment Thursday afternoon.


Firefighters responded to 1907 College Avenue Apt. C shortly after 12 pm. Fire Chief Sonny Pinkstaff says the occupant of the apartment Phillip McCullough had returned home and smelled and saw smoke coming from his residence and called the fire department. Pinkstaff says firefighters located the fire in the kitchen and quickly extinguished it. The fire originated on the stove and extended to the range hood, cabinets and counter tops. No injuries were reported. The apartment is owned by Cherokee Rentals.
