AFL-CIO will continue the fight for fair trade

On this Labor Day weekend, the President of the AFL-CIO tells union members their hard work allows the economy to thrive and makes America great.

Brett Voorhies acknowledges declining union membership but he says every day his office gets calls from people wanting to organize a union within their workplace. And he vows to continue the fight for fair trade–not free trade that allows companies to move jobs to other nations. And for an increase in the minimum wage–calling Indiana’s minimum of 7-25 an hour “thievery.” Voorhies urges union members to make their “voices heard at the polls” backing candidates who believe they “deserve higher wages, better benefits, a reasonable work schedule” and paid time off when they get sick.
