The United Way of Knox County’s annual kick-off campaign was held last night at Adams Coliseum.

This year’s fund-raising goal was announced at 275-thousand dollars which benefits a number of agencies in the community including the Salvation Army.

Lieutenant Curtis  Lunnam says the services they provide would be greatly diminished without the support they receive through the United Way.

Lunnam says they receive approximately 10-thousand dollars a year from the United Way.

The campaign also received pledges of 85-hundred dollars from Old National Bank and 3-thousand, 534-dollar Southwest Regional Youth Village in Vincennes.

United Way Executive Director Mark Hill says 94 cents of every dollar receives goes directly to provide services to people in the community.
