Bids received on Kimmel Park Project

The Vincennes Utilities Services Board received only two bids to widen the entrance to Kimmell Park.

The U-S-B met in special session Wednesday afternoon to receive bids on the project. Of the six contractors who requested bid specifications only Hendrixson Concrete & Construction and Blankenberger Brothers submitted bids. Hendrixson was the high bidder at just over 331-thousand dollars while Blankenberger Brothers bid was for 158-thousand, 500 dollars.

According Levee Superintendent Hunter Pinnell, the plan is to widen the entrance to Kimmell Park to provide a more scenic view of the park and the Wabash River. The building plans also include raising the concrete base to make it easier to install the city’s flood gates.

Pinnell says the bids were taken under advisement and will be reviewed by engineers to determine which bid meets the specifications. A contract for the work is expected to be awarded withing the next 30-days.
