State Fair attendance down

Heat and rain blamed for fewer people heading to the state fair this year.

Although overall attendance for this year’s Indiana State Fair was down, Sunday’s final day of the fair set a new record. Over 83,000 people attended the state fair Sunday, providing a final boost to what was otherwise a bit of a down year. Attendance was just over 731,500 this year, down nearly 20 percent from last year. Fair officials say nearly 4 inches of rain and an average heat index near 90 degrees are to blame for the lower attendance.
