City of Vincennes Plans for the 4th of July Holiday

The annual Vincennes July 4th Parade is scheduled to step off at 6:00 Monday evening from the Second & Hart Street intersection.

Cheryl Hacker, Administrative Assistant to Vincennes Mayor Joe Yochum says they’ve received close to 100 entries for this year’s parade. The theme for this year’s Fourth of July Parade is

Celebrate Freedom which Hacker says combines two very significant Events.

Knox the County’s Bicentennial Bison will be part of the parade and participants are encouraged to decorate their float or vehicle in a patriotic fashion.

Immediately following the conclusion of the parade, Mayor Joe Yochum will host a reception for this year’s Spirit of 76 award winner Jim Osborne at the Harmony Society.

Fireworks will conclude the celebration. But prior to that, United Way Executive Director Mark Hill says there will be music….

The annual fireworks display, is sponsored by the Vincennes American Legion and will be shot off from the Lincoln Memorial Bridge beginning at dusk.
