Lester Ray Neighbors, 93, passed away June 2, 2016.

 

 

 

 

He was born in Lawrence County, IL, on Feb. 18, 1923, and lived in Vincennes most of his life. He was the son of the late David and Amanda (Lindsey) Neighbors-Livers.

Lester worked at Autolite for 23 years, then owned the Union Tavern for 42 years. He served his country in WWII and fought at the Battle of the Bulge.

Lester is survived by his wife, Norma Jean (Seals) Neighbors; his son, Tracy Neighbors of Vincennes; four grandchildren, Aaron Neighbors of Vincennes, Savannah Neighbors of Linton, IN, Jackson Nichol of Colorado, and Kearstan Nichol of Colorado; a great-granddaughter, Azalea of Linton, IN; a sister, Madge Ankney of Princeton, IN, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was precededin death by his parents; his brothers, Clarence, Charles, Carl, Robert, and David; and his sisters, Blanch, Elsie, and Jewell.

Friends may visit with his family from 12:00 – 2:00, on Tuesday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. The funeral will begin at 2:00 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
