Ron Drake wins the nomination by only a few votes.  No word on a recount request…

The Democrat 8th District Primary Race wasn’t decided until  Wednesday morning. Ron Drake hasn’t appeared on an Indiana ballot since the ’60s, but the former Sullivan state representative appears to have defeated David Orentlicher by 61 votes. He’ll face Republican Congressman Larry Bucshon in the Eighth District. Drake says he won’t formally declare victory until the results are certified may 13. Results in the razor-thin race were delayed because 10 voting machines didn’t shut down properly in Vanderburgh County. Like the neighboring ninth district, the race was marked by charges of carpetbagging. Drake accused Orentlicher, a former Indianapolis state representative, of moving to Terre Haute just to run.
