Disasters can happen in the blink of an eye.

Students at Vincennes University Friday had the opportunity to gain some 1st hand experience during a mock disaster drill on campus.

Dr. Jana Vieck, Dean of Health Sciences and Human Performance at VU says although it wasn’t a real emergency, students can still benefit from it.

Vincennes Fire Captain David Halter added the disaster drill will give students an advantage in the future.

Over one hundred 1st emergency responder students participated in the exercise, plus another fifty V-U students and staff participated as victims.

Both Halter and Vieck say they hope all of the students involved understand how much team work goes into disaster response.
