Lung Screenings can find symptoms of cancer

Smoking not the only cause of lung cancer.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.

Lung cancer kills more Americans each year than breast, prostate, colon and pancreatic cancers combined.

Lung Screening Coordinator at Good Samaritan Hospital Patti Inyart says smoking rates in Knox County for both men and women are higher than the national average, and Indiana has the sixth highest smoking rate in the Country.

However, Inyart says smoking isn’t the only cause of lung cancer

Lung screening is when an X-ray machine scans the body and uses low doses of radiation to make detailed pictures of the lungs.

These images, when examined by a doctor, can show if the patient has symptoms of lung cancer.
