Republicans gather for the annual Knox County Lincoln Day Dinner

Governor Mike Pence delivers the keynote speech while, Ted Cruz’s father appears on behalf of his son, also local GOP leaders introduce a candidate for County Commissioner

 

 

GOP DINNER 1

Indiana Governor Mike Pence says Indiana is on a roll.

Speaking at the Knox County Republican Day Dinner Saturday Night, the Governor highlighted some of the achievements that have occurred under his administration.

Pence says he’s always glad to have the opportunity to visit Knox County where there’s been quite an economic buzz generated over the last four years. He attributed that to a strong community with strong leadership knowing how to get things done.

Earlier in the day, the Governor presented Knox County Businessman Rowe Sargent with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award.

Sargent indicated he was “lured” to a meeting which he believed to be a Republican Party Strategy Session. He says he knew something was up when so many of his friends including Democrats were in the room.

Sargent who serves on the Knox County Commissioners has been involved with a number of boards and civic organizations. He recalled something his Father-In-Law once told him how it’s important to give something back to the community in which you live and work.

 

Rafael Cruz, the father of Presidential candidate Ted Cruz made a campaign appearance on behalf of his son. Cruz says Indiana maybe in a position to decide who the next President of the United States may be. He told the audience to look beyond the campaign rhetoric and look closely at each candidates record.

Cruz says America is on the edge of a precipice. Unless there is a dramatic shift in direction he believes we are in danger of losing this country.

 

In other news from the GOP gathering.Knox County Republican Chairwoman Linda Painter announced they’ve found a candidate to run for County Commissioner in District 2.

Bob Morrison was introduced during Saturday/s Lincoln Day Dinner. Morrison is the Executive Director of the Three Nails Project in Knox County. The Disaster Response Organization lends its support to other communities in times of needr. Morrison is an ordained minister who also has served as a firefighter and reserve police officer.

Although he won’t be on the ballot for the May primary. Painter says he will be filing paperwork to run in the November General Election where he will face incumbent Democrat Larry Holscher..
