The dogs rescued this week in an animal cruelty case should be ready for adoption by the end of the month

The eleven dogs rescued from a recent animal cruelty case are being nursed back to health.

58-year-old Gary Linus Dunt was was arrested Monday and is facing numerous charges including 11-counts of animal cruelty and harboring non-immunized animals.  He was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into possible animal cruelty at a Camp Arthur Road residence.  Five dogs were found dead on the property.

Vincennes Animal Shelter Director Laura Arial says the eleven dogs that were rescued were severely infested with fleas.

Arial says all of the dogs are friendly towards humans but still need to be trained for an at home setting.

She says right now the animal shelter hasn’t take a hard hit financially due to the extra animals…. but that could change.

Arial says the dogs should be suitable for adoption in about two weeks.
