Phyllis “Jean” Jarrell, 83 of Vincennes

Phyllis “Jean” Jarrell, 83, passed away at 3:20 am on April 7, 2016 at Amber Manor in Petersburg, IN. Jean was born on February 9, 1933 in Kell,IL the daughter of Carl and Alice (Smith) Howard. Jean married Robert Jean Jarrell on December 20, 1953 and he preceded her in death on February 26, 2003.

Jean was a telephone operator for Indiana, Illinois and Michigan Bell before retiring from United Federal Bank. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church where she was active in the church choir; was involved with Kid’s Hope; a member of the Harmony Women’s Auxiliary and liked to dance and also liked country music.

Survivors include her son, Robert Anthony Jarrell and her daughter-in-law Karen Sue Cockerham of Vincennes; sisters, Barbara Miller and her husband Jerry of Vincennes, Doris Collins and her husband James of Panama City, FL, Donna Witt and her husband Arney of Flora, IL; brother Sonny Howard of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren, Corinne Ferguson; great grandchildren, Van, Lexi, and Gunner Jarrell and two great grandsons. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, grandson, Dustin Jarrell and brother, Darwin Howard.

Funeral services for Phyllis will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 11, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, with the Rev. Ray Tromley officiating. Friends may visit with Phyllis’s family from 4:00 pm until the hour of service time of 7:00 pm on Monday at the funeral home. A private burial will be held at a later date.
