Franklin D. “Butch” Banks, Sr.

Franklin D. “Butch” Banks, Sr., age 72, of Lawrenceville, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at his residence.  He was born May 22, 1943, in Allendale, Illinois, the son of Everett M. and Eva Pearl (Thomas) Banks.  He married Laura C. (Smith) Tuetken on May 22, 1993.

Butch worked for 23-years at Roadmaster.  He then worked at Perdue Farms, Wal-Mart, was a timber cutter and farmer.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter who also enjoyed gardening.

 

Butch was a member of the Moose and Eagles.

 

Preceding Butch in death were his parents, several brothers and one sister.

 

Survivors include his wife, Laura Banks, of Lawrenceville; his children, Larry L. Banks of Bridgeport, Franklin D. Banks, Jr. of Bridgeport, Heather Lynn Carrie-Banks of Westport, Thomas E. Banks of Lawrenceville, Bradley C. (Angie) Banks of Bridgeport, and Paula A. Ake of St. Peters, Missouri;  three brothers Omer “Spud” Banks of Crossville, Larry “Jug” (Kristine) Banks of Crossville, Kenneth Bradley (Jo) Banks of Orange Park, Florida; one sister, Sylvia (Gene) Salmon of Sebring, Florida; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

 

The family requests that friends gather for a time of remembrance and celebration on Saturday from 12 noon until 2 PM at Wabash River Park Pavilion in St. Francisville, Illinois.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Helping His Hands Ministries in Vincennes, Indiana; Lawrence County Cancer Resource Center; Good Samaritan Hospice, or American Cancer Society.
