Thomas A. Fisher, 94, of Petersburg, IN (formerly of rural Lawrenceville), passed away at 9:15 PM (EST) Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Amber Manor Care Center in Petersburg.

 

He was born March 14, 1922, in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Willard and Martha (Timms) Fisher. He married Betty J. Hawthorne on June 14, 1942, and she passed away May 27, 2000.

 

Thomas retired from Prestolite Battery after 32 years of employment. He also farmed.  He owned and operated Fisher Gravel with his son Bob. Thomas served as Russell Township Road Commissioner for four years.  He was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Vincennes, Indiana and was a member of Rod and Gun Club. Thomas was very active in his church where he held many positions throughout the years.  He was an avid Cardinal’s baseball fan.  Thomas enjoyed all forms of nature which included hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting and lastly farming.

 

Preceding Thomas in death were his parents, his wife, one son, Robert C. Fisher, one granddaughter Tiffani Thomforde, four brothers, Carl, Herman, Lyman, and Roy and one sister Mary Jane Brown.

 

Survivors include a son, Tom (Carol) Fisher of Petersburg, Indiana, a daughter Kathy (Tom) Tipsword of Lawrenceville, Illinois, two grandchildren, Brandy Maddle-Wambeke (Nate), Matthew Fisher (Kaci), two step-grandchildren, Aaron Tipsword and Amber Tipsword and six great-grandchildren.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 PM (CST) until the service hour at 3:30 PM (CST) at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville.

 

Funeral services will be at 3:30 PM (CST) on Monday at the funeral home.

 

Burial will take place in Price Cemetery in Russellville.
