Indiana Gov. Mike Pence has signed a bill giving law enforcement agencies authority to withhold some video recordings from body cameras. The law will allow police to withhold video under some circumstances. If a person challenges a decision to withhold video, the law enforcement agency will be required to prove in court that releasing the video would harm someone or influence a court proceeding.

Pence has also signed proposals aimed at curbing methamphetamine manufacturing in Indiana. One of those bills includes a measure would allow pharmacy regulars to buy pseudoephedrine normally while allowing pharmacists to limit quantities of the cold medicine sold to unfamiliar customers without a prescription. Pseudoephedrine is a key ingredient in meth.

Meanwhile the governor is voicing concern over a bill to shelter private college police departments from following the same open records laws as other law enforcement agencies at public schools. Pence said today that he hasn’t decided if he will veto the bill that was approved amid a high-profile court fight between the University of Notre Dame and ESPN over the private university’s police records.
