James W. “Duke” Anderson, 65, of Lawrenceville, IL, passed away on March 14, 2016.

He was born December 3, 1950 in Princeton, Indiana, the son of Harry and Audrey Evelyn (Hardiman) Anderson.
Duke retired from Marathon Oil Company.  He was a member of the Pinkstaff United Methodist Church. He was a member of Abate, the Elks, the Moose and was a Son of American Legion. In his spare time Duke enjoyed boating, fishing, hunting and basketball.  He raised quarter horses and loved living on his farm. Duke loved his grandchildren dearly and enjoyed the time he spent with each of them.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Audrey (Hardiman) Anderson.  

Survivors include his son, Jacob Anderson of rural Flat Rock, IL; daughters, Jammia (Robin) Joska of Owensboro, KY, Lacey (Michael) Burris of Olney, IL, and Bethany (Reese) Ivers of St. Francisville, IL; father, Harry Anderson of Lawrenceville, IL; brothers, Jackie (Sandy) Anderson of Robinson, IL and Gary Anderson of Duncan, OK; 9 loving grandchildren, Maya, Merrick, Bayden, Braxten, Emmie, Jade, Reagan, Sienna and Tripp.  

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 18, 2016 at Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home, 1303 12th St., Lawrenceville, IL.  

Visitation is from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday evening, March 17, 2016 at the funeral home.  

Burial will be in Portee Cemetery.  

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Class of 1969 Reunion or Shriner’s Children’s Hospital with envelopes available through the funeral home.
