Vincennes Mayor, Joe Yochum will deliver his “State of the City” address immediately following tonight’s City Council meeting. Yochum is expected to give a brief overview of what was accomplished in 2015 as well as outlining goals for the coming year.
The Mayor indicated that he hopes to spend another million dollars to pave and repair city streets. He also has his eye on some federal funding.
Yochum also intends to ask the Council for 50-thousand dollars to fund a Loft program. He says the goal is to attract people into living donwtown. The money would provide grants to downtown merchants so that they can convert unused space in their buildings into living quarters.
Other projects on the Mayor’s wish list includes widening Main Street and adding sidewalks from 22nd Street out to Clark Middle School.
Tonight’s City Council meeting begins at 6 pm…followed by the State of the City Address. The public is invited to attend.
