James Lee Horn, Sr. 82, of Lake Lawrence, Lawrenceville, passed away at 12:30 am Friday, March 11, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born July 25, 1933 in Vigo County, IN, to John and Rowina (Sullivan) Horn. Jim was a computer technology professor for 27 years at Vincennes University. His memberships included the 40 et 8, Lawrenceville Elks, and he was a lifetime member in the American Legion. Nominated by his students, Jim was recognized in the Who’s Who of College Professors. An avid fisherman, racquetball and tennis player, he enjoyed living at Lake Lawrence. Jim proudly served his country in the Navy. Surviving is his wife, Barbara (Riddle) Horn, whom he married on August 7, 1951; his children, Jim Horn Jr. and his wife Donna of Lawrenceville, Jay Horn and his wife Shelly of Terre Haute, and Kari Irvin and her husband Eric of Lawrenceville; four grandchildren, Shelli Owens, Lani Horn, Franci Gesell and her husband Joe, and William Irvin; and his great- grandchildren, Quinton Owens, Meadoh Owens, Heijh Diaz, Danny Diaz, Thomas Diaz, Khali Rae Diaz, and one great-grandchild on the way; and a great-great-grandchild, Kehnen, who is on the way. Funeral services will be held at Noon Monday, March 14, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home with Rev. Trevor Murry officiating. Burial will follow in the May Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the service on Monday. Memorial contributions may be at the choice of the donor.
