Charles “Shorty” Walton, 79, passed away at 9:20 pm on March 7, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital. Shorty was born on October 22, 1936 in Michigan the son of Elgie and Mildred (Kinnear) Walton. He married Carol Dardeen on December 16, 1955 and she survives.
Shorty was a 1955 graduate of Vincennes Lincoln High School and a member of First Church of God. He had been a tool and die operator for Stubnutz and later owned and operated D & C Insulation and Guttering. Shorty was a member of the Elks and loved to play golf.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Walton of Vincennes; daughter, Deb Kehl and her husband Barry of Indianapolis; son, Steve Walton of Kissimmee, FL; grandchildren, Spencer Barmes, Aaron Walton and Josh Kehl.
Funeral services for Shorty will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor Georg Karl officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Shorty’s family on Wednesday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the YMCA.
