Weather didn’t hamper the annual VU Old Post Jam

A good crowd turned out Sunday, despite the inclement weather for the 16th annual Old Post Bluegrass Jam. Different groups and musicians performed through out the day in the Beckes Student Union. Bluegrass enthusiast and event organizer Raymond Hatton says the event draws musicians and fans from as far away as 100 miles. Hatton says in addition to the jams, they encourage amatuers to come and play. Hatton’s own group Mariah Creek performed on the Main Stage of the V-U Food Court to an appreciative audience.

Hatton says the popularity of the Bluegrass Jam has grown since the event was moved to the Beckes Student Union in 2008. Hatton says they owe a debt of gratitude to Bill Stedman and Louis Marchino for getting the Jam started years ago.
