Lawrenceville Mayor Don Wagner

The economic climate appeared to be changing in Lawrenceville. Mayor Don Wagner told members of the city council last night that a motel chain has shown some interest in locating in one of the city’s TIF zones .

However, Wagner says before that occurs the city is going to have to spend some money for a feasibility study.

Wagner wouldn’t identify the motel chain by name, but indicated they were looking at property in the city’s TIF 2 zone on the Northside of Lawrenceville. The City Council voted unanimously to allow the TIF board to appropriate up to 13-thousand dollars for the feasibility study which would take 6-months to complete.

Wagner indicated that there’s also been some interest shown by a couple of businesses in the City’s other TIF zone which takes in a portion of downtown. He says nothing has been decided yet other than the two prospects are looking at potential sites.

Lawrenceville Mayor Don Wagner asked city council members last night to make a list of streets in their districts that are in need of repair.

Wagner says they have approximately 100-thousand dollars in their Motor Fuel fund for street paving once warmer weather arrives.

The Mayor says priority will be given to those streets that are in the worst shape. He indicated that the city will also be looking to do sidewalk repairs as well.

Wagner says if residents know of some bad spots in there area to call City Hall so they can be inspected and put on a list.
