Chris E. Wanke, 86, of Vincennes, passed away at 10:55 Thursday, February 11, 2016 at the New Willow Manner.
Chris was born March 6, 1929 in Vincennes to Roy F. and Mary J. (Richardson) Wanke.
He worked in the boiler room at the Vincennes Paper Mill where he retired, and had also worked at Simpson Orchard in his younger days. His hobbies included fishing and was known to be a collector.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Welton of Vincennes; his brothers, Lester (Linda) Wanke of Vincennes, John (Connie) Wanke of Bruceville and Ralph (Carolyn) Wanke of Bruceville; his grandchildren, Brian (Terri) Welton, Dan (Dana) Welton, and Sondra (Eric) Schwieterman; along with 9 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Charlotte (Gray) Wanke, whom he married on September 26, 1945 and preceded him on August 5, 1998; his son, Tom Wanke; along with four brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pmMonday at Goodwin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from Noon until the service. Online condolences may be made atwww.goodwinfamilyfh.com
