Charles Andrew Roth

Charles Andrew Roth, age 90, of Lawrenceville, IL passed away Friday, February 05, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospice in Vincennes, IN.

He was born December 22, 1925 in Orchard, IA to the late John F. and Florence E. (Brassie) Roth.  He married Corrine R. Stivers on November 24, 1949 and she preceded him in death on December 8, 1984.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in WW II.  He served our country in Belgium, France, Germany, Holland and Japan. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Assembly 4th Degree 0229 of Olney, IL.

Chuck was very active in Boy Scouts for over 50 years.  He served as the scouting representative for Lawrence County, was a Chartered Organization Representative, Executive Officer and a member of the Order of the Arrow.  Chuck received many honors and awards from the Boy Scouts including the Buffalo, the Bear Claw, District Award of Merit, Order of the Arrow, and his highest honor was the Silver Beaver award in recognition of his support and leadership

He served as the District 7 representative for the Lawrence County Board for several years.  Chuck was also one of the first EMT’s in Lawrence County.

Chuck worked for Witco Chemical in Lawrenceville for many years until his retirement.  After retirement, he was a bus driver and delivered meals for the Lawrence County Senior Citizens.

He is survived by his five children:  Stephen F. Roth of Newburgh, IN, Michael W. Roth and Donna of Evansville, IN, Patrick D. Roth and Deb of Houston, TX, Teresa A. Gaines and Ronnie of Vincennes, IN and Timothy S. Roth of Lawrenceville, IL; and by three siblings: James Robert Roth and Lena of Olney, IL, Pauline M. Frohning and Carl of Newton, IL, George J. Roth and Sue of Newton, IL.  Chuck was blessed with eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Corrine, and by two sisters Joan Lynn and Charlotte Ann Roth.

A funeral mass will be Tuesday, February 09, 2016 at 10:30 am at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church with burial to follow in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home.  A rosary prayer service and Knight of Columbus service will began at 7pm on Monday evening.
